My School As Community
My school is located in the municipality of Puerto
Triunfo (Ant), on the road between Medellin and Bogota. In this little town is
PABLO VI HIGH SCHOOL, it has more or less 743 students.400 in elementary school
and 343 in the high school. The building is divided into parts. The primary is
in front of the high school, this building is located in one of the highest
elevated points in the town. This school is the oldest of the municipality,
beside the school there is a cemetery but there is closed.
The school has eleven classrooms. A computer room, a
laboratory, a video room, a teacher’s room, a room for the principal and
secretary, and in the backyard the school has a vegetables garden where there
are tomatoes, onions, and cucumbers, there is a medical garden where you can
find oregano, aloe, yanten, saffron, penicillin, coriander, and lettuce, in the
farm we have cows, laying hens, bird quail, and duck, we obtain eggs from these
birds for sale, the money from the sale is for the students.
The primary has twelve classrooms, a computer lab, and
a classroom of support that helps us with the bad students’ behavior and
sometimes is used to guide the parents when they need something special with
the children’s life.
The students’ behavior is regular and in the past few
years all the students have changed their behavior due to the work that the
teachers have done, for that reason, we celebrate every years a peace week
where we sing and walk. Around town with
the purpose of having peace in all our community,
because twelve years ago, this municipality was very violent and many people
lived in war and killed each other, the town has changed and today there is
peace and you can walk without any kind of problem because the violent people
are in the jail.
The work in the school is amazing so we can speak with
all the people here and we help each other to do the work, we have a meet every
Monday late where we share the relevant thing that have happen around the week,
then we look for the solutions of these things.
